Both have a white markings between the eyes, and have bushy tail which is white on the underside.

The short-haired, dark brown coat of females and males.

 They have 10 or more vertical white stripes on their body.

They have white spots on the face, throat, and sides.

 Females have no horns and mane on their neck

 The males are larger than females.

Range – Kenya and Western Africa
Habitat – Â Dense Mountain and rainforests
Food – Leaves, Twigs, bark, thistles and cereals in the wild
They are Grazers and Browsers.
Status – Critically Endangered.
 As few as 140 left in the wild, and rapidly declining species.
Reason For Status : Rinderpest epidermic diseases, habitat destruction and killing by man.
Gestation : Â 285 days ( 9.5 months )
Lifespan :Â 14 years in the wild / 19 yrs in captivity
