Macaques

 

 

Macaques are old World monkeys .

They have cheek pouches.

They are slight to heavily built bodies and are shades of brown to black.

Macaques have short tails , no tails and other macaques have long tails.

 They are most widespread primate in the world. Macaques live in Asia ( Afghanistan to china and Japan to Southeast asia. )

including Philippines and Borneo.

One species is Northern Africa and Gibraltar.

There are 46 subspecies total .

There are 22 macaques commonly recognized today.
