Fishes are vertebrate species.

They all live in water.

They have been living in water for more than 500 million years, coelacanth which is known the ancient fish.

 Fishes breathe through gills.

Fins help them in their movement in the water.

Fishes are the only vertebrates with true fins.

Some are hermaphrodite (possessing both sex organs – California Sheephead)
