Physical Description

Long and slender, the fin whale’s body is brownish-grey with a paler underside

Head to Body Length:  22-26 m ( 75-85 ft )

Fin length

Dorsal fin :  24 in ( 60 cm )

Pectoral flippers : 1/9 th of total length

Fluke : 

Range :  mediterranean sea and gulf of california

Habitat  : temperate and polar zones

Diet.   :   Plankton sized animals including crustaceans, fish, and squid

Status :  endangered, fin whales have depleted in numbers.

Reason for status : over hunting, ship strikes, pollution and whales

Gestation :  11-12 months

Longevity :  75 – 100 years in wild /
