Physical description

  • The white lipped deer has a deep brown coat with white markings

  • Fading to yellow brown underneath the body.

  • The head is darker than rest of their body

  • Especially in males with pure white markings on the lip.

  • The ears are larger than other

  • species. .They have broad and heavy hoofs.

Status : extremely endangered

Reason for status : hunted for meat and human encroachment

Gestation : 270 days

Lifespan : 19 years in captivity / 16 – 18 years in the wild
