GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS

 The smallest of all the gazelle species is the Speke’s Gazelle.

 They are light brown colored upper coat from the white belly by a black stripe, which has a lighter band above it.

 This gazelle species has a shape like a tennis ball
HEAD TO BODY LENGTH: 95 – 105 cm (3.1 to 3.5 ft )
HORN LENGTH: 25 – 31 cm – males (10 – 12.4 in) 15 – 25 cm ( 6 – 10 in )
Tail Length: 15 – 20 cm ( 6 – 8 in )
SHOULDER HEIGHT: 50 – 60 cm ( 1.6 to 2.0 ft )
WEIGHT:  15 – 25 kg (33 – 55 lbs)
RANGE:Â Ethiopia and Somalia
HABITAT:Â Stony brush, grass steppes, and Semi desert
FOOD: Â Grasses, leaves
STATUS: The population is decreasing
REASON FOR STATUS: Loss of Habitat, domestic livestock.
GESTATION PERIOD: 6 – 7 months
LIFESPAN: YRS IN WILD – live up to 12 years / they live 12 years also in captivity.
