There are two species of rhea that are found in South America in grassland

They are the Greater and Lesser Rhea. Rheas are tall, long-legged birds, well adapted to a ground lifestyle.

They are good runners. and go to speeds of up to 60 km/h.

Their body is grayish-brown, and the sexes are not very dimorphic, though males develop a black ring on the neck.

 Their feathers lack hooks, making them unusually soft.

Unlike the similar-looking ostriches, the head, neck, and thighs of rheas are feathered.

They do not have tail feathers.
