Hyaenidae

 

General Characteristics 

  •  In some respects they are similar to canidae and to felines in some others.

  • They have large ears and  eyes, powerful jaws and big cheek.

  • Long and bushy tail

  • While hyenas hunt and scavenge large prey, Aardwolf eats mainly termites.

  • This family consists of hyenas (Spotted, Striped, and Brown ) and Aardwolf.

  • While many associate this family to canidae, Hyenas are in a separate family of their own along with Aardwolf.

  • Aardwolf is smaller than a hyena.
