Physical Description:

These have wooly winter coat that is reddish to dark brown and has a thick undercoat. Males and females grow shaggy mane

around the neck and shoulders. The neck and head are relatively small but the eyes are large. The ears are also small and pointed.

The horns are curved.

Physical Characteristics:

Head to body length : 90-140cm ( 3-4.7ft)

Tail length : 9-12cm ( 3.6-4.8 in )

Shoulder height : 65-100 cm ( 2.1-3.3 ft )

Weight : 36-90kg ( 79 – 189 lbs )

Horn Length : 45 cm ( 18 in )

RANGE : Himalayan mountains from northern India , East of Bhutan, as66 far north as Tibet          

HABITAT : wooded hills and mountain slopes

DIET : Alpine herbs & scrubland plants

Status : decreasing in population

Reason for status : hunting and habitat loss

Gestation : 6 months ( 180)

Lifespan : 22 years in captivity / 10 years in wild
