BLACK DUIKER – Endangered and Rare Animals

Physical Description

They are heavily built with short legs long body and long head
They are dark brown to black in color.
The bridge of their nose and other parts of their head are more reddish in color.
Both males and females have horns.

SHOULDER HEIGHT: 500 mm ( 20 in )

WEIGHT: 15-20kg ( 33 -44lbs )

RANGE :Sierra Leone , Cote divore Liberia, Ghana, Benin, and Nigeria

HABITAT: Lowland Rainforest

FOOD: fruits, seeds, grasses and fungi

STATUS: Population is decreasing

REASON FOR STATUS : Hunting , and poaching

GESTATION PERIOD: 126 days

LIFESPAN: YRS IN WILD 10 -12 years / 14.80 YRS IN CAPTIVITY
