Equidae

 

  • The horses, zebras and asses are in the family equidae.

  • They rely on their large size swift running style, and herding behavior to evade predation.

  •  They bare their weights on the tip of a single toe on each foot.

  •  Their slender legs lock when at rest rather than relying on muscle contraction.

  •  Their teeth are highly specialized for a diet of grasses and other plants to clip the vegetation.

  • There are three species of zebra

  • There are three hundred breeds of horses

  • There are three species of asses.
