• They have a reddish tan color coat white underbelly.

• They have black markings on its back

Tail Length: 46-78 cm ( 18 – 31 in )

SHOULDER HEIGHT:75- 90cm ( 30 -35 in )

WEIGHT:  45 -65 kg ( 99- 140lbs )

RANGE :  Eastern Africa

HABITAT:  Semi-desert , Open Savanna’s and treeless Plains

FOOD:  Leaves and stems

STATUS: The population is decreasing

REASON FOR STATUS :  habitat destruction

GESTATION PERIOD:   6.30 months

LIFESPAN: YRS IN WILD – 12- 14 years in both wild and captivity
