They are the third tallest bird and second heaviest living bird.

There are three species of cassowaries.

The southern cassowary which is known as ( double wattled cassowary ) the Dwarf Cassowary which is known as Bennett’s Cassowary and the Northern Cassowary ( single wattled cassowary ) .

Females are bigger and brightly colored.

They have feathers that consist of shaft and loose barbules.

They have sharp claws on their feet.
