KIWI

 

 

 

  • Kiwi is a ratite.

  • They are flightless birds, and they live in New Zealand.

  • They are the smallest living ratite and lay the largest living egg in relation to their body size of any bird in the world.

  •  There are five species of kiwi.

  • They are great spotted kiwi, little spotted kiwi, Southern Brown Kiwi, Northern Island Kiwi, and Okovito Brown Kiwi. 

  • Kiwi is the smallest ratite.

  • They have hair-like feathers and whiskers of kiwis are mostly grayish- brown in color.

  • These birds have no breastbone and tail.

  • Female kiwis are larger than males.

  • They have external nostrils at the end of their bill and most of them have great sense of smell.

  • Their legs are very strong and are used for burrowing.
