Physical Characteristics

Length: 75 -90 cm (30 – 38 in)

Horn length: 6-16 cm (2.7 – 7.2 in)

Tail length: 6.5 – 10.5 cm (2.9 – 4.2 in)

Shoulder height: 43 -51 cm (19 – 23 in)

Weight: 10 -15 kg (22 – 33 lb)

Range: Ethiopia to the tip of the South Africa  

Habitat: steep rocky terrain, most common in mountain ranges and gorges of major rivers

Diet: They prefer lush Evergreen shrubs, fruit seed pots, flowers, and lichens 

Status: decrease in population

Reason for the status: loss of habitat, hunting

Gestation period: 214 days

Longevity: 15 years in the wild / 12 years in captivity
