Physical Description

Both male and female Indian Rhino have one dark horn on their nose.

Their skin has many loose folds.

 Especially distinct around the neck region, In males that gives the appearance of a suit of armor.

The skin is covered with large lumps

 General Characteristics

Length :  3.0 – 3.8 meters ( 10 – 12,5 feet )

Horn Length : 20 -60 meters ( 8 – 24 inches )

Tail length : 28 -32 inches ( 70 – 80 centimeters )

Weight : 1,800 – 2,700 kilograms ( 4,000 to 6,000 pounds )

Height : 1,75 – 2 meters ( 5,75 to 6,5 feet )

Range : Northern Pakistan, India, Nepal , Bangladesh and Assam

Habitat : Next to the swamp and forest

Diet :  Grass, fruit, leaves, branches and aquatic plants.

Status : There is only 1700 left in the wild

Reason for the status : Habitat Destruction , and  overhunting by humans

Gestation Period479 days

Lifespan 30 -45 years in the wild / 47 years in captivity
