Physical Description:

The Indian Muntjac is known as Barking Deer, Red Muntjac, or Common Muntjac.

Indian muntjac is a deer that has small antler that are visible in males.

 The color of the coat can be golden tan on the dorsal side and white color underneath.

The limbs and face are dark brown.

Physical Characteristics:

Head to body length : 89 – 135 cm ( 35.04 – 53.15 in )

Shoulder height : 24-28 in

Tail length : 15 cm

Weight : 14 – 35 kg ( 30.84 – 77.09 lbs )

Antler length : 3.0 – 6.5 in

Range : southern and southeast Asia from pakistan east through India and Nepal and

southern china

Habitat : Rainforest, hilly country and monsoon forests

Diet : herbs ,fruit, eggs, small animals, sprouts, seeds, and grasses

Status : this species has decreased in the wild

Reason for status : hunting and habitat loss

Gestation : 210 days

Longevity : 18 years in captivity / 20 – 30 years in the wild
