General Characteristics
This Species is reddish brown to chestnut darker in males than females with several white vertical stripes on its body.
It extends from the neck to the middle of the back.
The legs are slightly lighter on the inner surfaces with black and white marking just above hooves.
Both male and females have tightly spiraled horns which are straight.
In a male Horns are V shaped.
The females have slightly longer horn

Habitat – Savanna and Open Woodlands

Status – Population have been declining
Reason For Status : hunting , habitat destruction and hinder pest disease
Gestation : 9 months
Lifespan : eland in the wild – 15 to 20 yrs / captivity – 23 yrs
