Cattle

 

 

  • ·         The cattle family includes  a group of mammals which also includes the goats, sheep, le gazelles, antelopes, and goat-antelopes.

  • ·         There are 107 species of this family.

  • ·         Only 12 of them out of 107 are in cattle family

  • ·         Even the large muskox  which looks quite cow-like, is more closely belongs to the goats than to cattle.

  • ·         Cattle are generally distinguish by their large size and the single pair of non-branching horns growing from their forehead.

  • ·         The horns, which are not shed, are largely low and differ considerably among species like the Wild Yak which is one of the largest in cattle family and African buffalo.

  • ·         Smallest of cattle family is the Anoa.

  • ·         Both sexes develop horns as they grow older Males have much longer horns.

  • ·         They differ considerably in the way they look from the brown to black color coat of the anoas to the Javan Banteng.

  • ·         In which the females are reddish brown and the males shiny black.

  •       Cattles are mainly grazing animals ( grasses, herbs, and tree shrubs )

  • y     They usually consume in large quantities at a time
