Aardwolf

Description

·      What makes the Aardwolves unique is there striking features such as  dark stripes on-yellow or dark brown fur, their thick facial features to name only a couple.

·         They are mainly nocturnal.

·          They have big, pointy ears makes them stand out.

·         They have  front legs longer than the backlegs.

·         They belong in the family hyenidae

Physical Characteristics

Head to body Length : 850 – 1050 mm ( 33.46 – 41.34 in )

Shoulder Height : 450 -500 mm

Tail Length :  200 – 300 mm (

Weight : 8 -14 kg ( 17.64 – 30.86 lbs )

Food – Termites and grasshoppers

Range – Southern Zambia, Angola, Mozambique, Northeastern Somalia and Uganda

Habitat –  Open savannahs and grasslands

Gestation :  90 days ( 3 months )

Lifespan : 14 years in captivity /10 years in wild
