Physical Characteristics

·        They have a body like a bovine covered with long yellow to brown colored hair.

·       They have short, stocky legs, broad hoofs and strong claws as an adaptation to their mountainous environment.

·     The face is curved with the nose ridge arching outwards.

Range:: Western China
Habitat : Mountainous regions of Himalayan Mountains
Diet : Grasses ,leaves, buds and shoots
Status: Endangered, Population is decreasing
Reason for the status: Overhunting and habitat Destruction
Gestation period :Â About 7 Months
Longevity :Â 12 – 15 Years in wild / 16 years captivity
