•  The neck is pinkish-red,

• The feathers of males is black and white

•  The feathers of females is grayish

Range :   Ethiopia and Sudan to Sahel of Africa to Senegal and Mauritania and north to Egypt and southern morocco

     

Habitat:  open savannas and Sahel of Africa. Both north and south equatorial forest zone

 

Diet.  : seeds, grass, shrubs, fruit and flowers

 

Status:  this species are drastically reducing in the  last 200 years

 

Reason for status: hunting and habitat loss

 

Incubation period  : 35 -45 days

 

Longevity: 40 – 45 years in wild / 40 years
