 The thick hide is covered with a short, bristly-haired, dark brown coat.

Length : 6.5 feet ( 2 meters )

Tail length : 2 3/4 to  5 inches ( 7-13 cm)

Weight : 530 Lbs -880 lbs ( 240- 400 kg )

Height : ( 3.9 feet )

Range : South Mexico to North and South America 

Habitat : Dense Tropical Jungles, marsh and swamp areas, mangroves, wet tropical rainforests, riparian woodlands, monsoon deciduous forests, montane cloud forests, and treeless alpine plateau

Diet :  Plant Matter , including fallen fruit

Status : Endangered

Reason for the status : Almost 70 % of Central American Forest have been destroyed in 40 years. Hunting, Habitat Destruction.

Gestation Period – 390 – 400 days

Lifespan Over 30 years
